Greetings! My name is Stephanie. My parents were John & Luella Hill. They were married for 46 years and I am their only child.  My parents were the most supportive, loving parents any kid could hope to have.  My father was my hero and my mother still continues to be my hero each and everyday.  I recently moved to New Mexico six weeks ago to be with my mother and help her to manage all that we have to deal with.  I moved here from Minnesota because family comes first.  That is a lesson and value my father always instilled in me – he always told me, “that no matter what, family always comes first”.

Upon the passing of my father in January of this year, I moved to New Mexico to be with my Mom and help her go through the terrible grieving process we have ahead of us. At first, I began looking for a new traditional job in the same field I had before I moved, because I loved working with students, young and old.  I worked in Special Education and in circulation at the local public library. I still am searching for another job to a lesser degree these days, but I am seeing just how beneficial it is for me to be home with my Mom as we have good days and bad days.  Therefore, I recently started looking for ways to earn revenue at home – a legitimate way, because there are plenty of scams out there. I finally found a legitimate way and that is working as an affiliate marketer.  To learn more about affiliate marketing you may visit Legitimate Online Opportunity.  Please view my affiliate disclaimer.

I remember seeing your father at the Origins Convention some years ago. He was lovely to everyone and it was nice to see him recognized for the excellence of his game designs. I was moved when I heard about his passing, but rest assured, many appreciated him and we share in your loss.

Thank you for stopping by this tribute site to my father. I have glad you got a chance to see my father at the Origins Convention. He was always very charming and lovely to everyone he met. He enjoyed meeting other wargamers and enjoyed sharing his passion for wargames. I hope you continue to revisit this site. Many thanks for your support.

I am so sorry for your loss. I never lost a parent, but I have lost a spouse and a nephew. I know how mentally taxing they can be. It is great you are helping your mom through this situation. I hope someone is there for you to talk to.You may not think you need it, but you will need that outlet. Your parents sound like amazing people and I am sure they are so proud of you. Keep up the good work.

My father passed away in March of 2004 from prescription drug induced congestive heart failure. It was traumatic and sudden. It took a long time just to get to a point where we could properly recognize that he had passed and move on. My mother was just as lost as the rest of us. I can understand your drive and motivation to share your father’s legacy with the world. It is really moving. Thank you for reminding me of the importance of remembering the good times.

      Hi Tamara:

That has to be one of the kindest most heart warming comments I have received on my website and I have read many tender and compassionate comments left on my tribute site to my father. I did wish to say how sorry I am for your loss as well in 2004. What you described as far as being a traumatic and sudden loss for both your mother and your family was and is the exact way we are feeling. You are right about it taking a very long time to recover. Not sure if we will ever be able to fully recover. My father also passed away from congestive heart failure and it was rather peculiar in how it happened.

We are still left with some unanswered questions and think perhaps maybe my father’s passing too was related to an over-prescribed drug use. My father went into the hospital on a Friday because he was unable to urinate – it was an odd thing to occur to someone but he was lucid and making jokes. He went out to a company luncheon that same day before going into the hospital. He seemed fine then. The hospital wanted to keep him overnight after giving him some heavy prescription medications and by Monday he was gone. Like I said, many unanswered questions.

Thank you again for your wonderful comment.

    Hello

This is a fantastic site! Your love for your parents really shows. I applaud you for moving your life to be with your mom. That is an example of what family is all about, to be there for each other in time of need and definitely says a lot about who you are as a person.

I never thought working online could bring so much joy. I love it for all the reasons you mention here. Congratulations on your affiliate marketing business.

Wishing you all the best and nothing but success in your online endeavors.

      Hi Kellie:

Thank you for your very kind words. I appreciate it. I too have enjoyed working online. I like being able to be there to help my mother and take care of her, because there is no way she could have done this by herself.

Again, your heartfelt words mean so much.

      Sincerely,

      Stephanie

How awesome that you created a website to honor your dad John Hill’s legacy. I think its so cool all that he had accomplished in his life as a wargame creator. I read his Wiki and its really fascinating including the creation of Squad Leader. I love reading about people who are passionate about what they do. To that end, I think its befitting for you to create a webspace that documents your father’s life and history. I’m off to read more about Squad Leader and see if its available on Amazon. I’m curious are your mom and you going to re-release any games?

      Hi Tiffany:

Thank you for checking out my tribute site to my father. I appreciate your kind comments. Squad Leader is available on Amazon. I created a Squad Leader Amazon Store for ease of browsing and shopping.

As far as re-releasing some of his games, we have been approached by a couple other wargamers that my father worked with about selling the rights to their re-release, but we are going to wait at least one year before we decide on any of those business arrangements as we need the appropriate and respectful amount of time to grieve the loss of my beloved husband, father and grandfather.

Again, I appreciate your kind remarks.

    Hey Steph,
Most of us have the same reasoning for that hustle. I hustle for the family because time is short and should not be wasted at a 9 to 5 that does not pay. You can’t buy back time. Awesome site!

Stephanie, what a great idea for a website, and also a way to make money from home so you can be with your Mom in times of need. I love this site and what you are doing. I am a published author and professional editor, too, so that endears your deceased Father to me even more.

Keep up the good work, and here’s wishing you success and peace.

      Hi Marvin:

Thank you Marvin for the very kind words and encouragement you provided me through your comment. I miss my Dad very much and I feel this is a way I can not only honor his achievements and successes but also, it is healing for me. When I am working on this site, I feel a connection to him, as if he is standing next to me, telling me how he wants the website to look and where he wants things displayed. My Dad was proud of everything he accomplished in life and I hope he would find an even higher sense of pride in seeing his works memorialized through this website. He worked hard for everything he succeeded in and our family will always treasure that about him.

Thank you for the warm wishes of success and peace.
